Design perspective / Editorial studies

Material, light,
and a sense of place.

These are visual studies—not photographs of completed client projects. They reflect the palette Stacey returns to: natural materials, layered greens, traditional forms and rooms that feel collected rather than staged.

Warm materiality

Plaster, linen, timber and finishes that become richer with time.

Garden greens

Grounded color drawn from landscape, foliage and the Pacific Northwest.

Layered history

Traditional forms balanced with practical, lived-in comfort.

Purposeful styling

Objects, texture and light composed to support how a room is used.

Background & experience

A creative eye.
An entrepreneurial spirit.

Stacey’s background connects interior design, creative direction, and business ownership. As Co-Founder and Design Manager of Macadam Floor & Design and Co-Founder of Nils Bernard, her experience spans the flooring and design industry and custom home building.

Her perspective brings together the personal side of a home and the practical experience of building businesses around residential design.

Flooring & interior design

Macadam Floor & Design

Co-Founder & Design Manager

Stacey co-founded Macadam Floor & Design in 2007, bringing design leadership to a business serving the Greater Seattle residential building market. Her role combined company ownership with design management at the intersection of interiors, materials, and home building.

The company grew into a major Pacific Northwest flooring and design business, serving prominent builders and completing nearly 10,000 homes across Washington and Oregon. Over 13 years, it generated more than $200 million in cumulative revenue and reached over $30 million in annual revenue.

Custom homes

Nils Bernard

Co-Founder

Stacey co-founded Nils Bernard, a premium custom home building company established in 2021 and serving Greater Seattle and Central Washington.

This chapter extends her background in flooring and interior design into the broader world of custom homes, connecting her creative perspective with her experience as a business owner.

At home in Roslyn

A sense of place.
A connection to community.

Stacey and Karl Ohlemann

After years on the Seattle Eastside, Stacey and her family moved to Upper Kittitas County in 2019, first settling in Suncadia and later making Roslyn home. There, Stacey and Karl renovated a circa-1888 house—a personal chapter in a life shaped by homes, family, and the places they belong.

Their connection to the area extends beyond their own home. In 2021, they co-founded WeHeartCleElumRoslyn, SPC, a social purpose corporation created to explore community outreach. The project reflects their investment in the people and future of the place they call home.
